Dough balls are a simple and versatile snack or appetizer made from a basic bread dough that is rolled into small, bite-sized balls, and baked until golden brown.
Ingredients
17.5 OZ / 500 G strong bread flour
9 OZ / 250 ML water
1 TSP sugar
2 TSP yeast
2 TBSP olive oil
2 TSP salt
7 OZ / 200 G garlic cheese spread
Directions
Add your warm water, yeast and sugar to the mixing bowl to activate the yeast. Mix for 2 minutes / 100°F|37°C / speed 1.
Then add flour, 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 teaspoon of salt. Knead for 1 minute.
Check the dough for consistency, add more water or flour depending on the desired consistency. Knead for 1 minute again.
If necessary, knead in a little more flour or water until it reaches the right consistency. Take the dough out, shape it into a ball and put it into a bowl covered by a tea towel and allow to prove for at least 1 hour until it has doubled in volume. Clean the mixing bowl.
Divide the dough into 24 small balls and roll them out flat, spread a little cheese mix onto the dough, then pull them together to form a ball. Arrange onto a baking sheet, then allow to prove until the dough is doubled in size for about an hour.
Preheat your oven to 200°C / 390°F. Once the dough has risen, bake in the oven for 15 minutes until golden brown.
TIP: You can brush some melted butter and chopped parsley on top of the dough for more flavor.
Enjoy your bread!
Recipe Note
TIP:
It is important that your baking sheet is not too big, as you want to make sure the dough absorbs all that lovely flavor.
