Chewy homemade bagels topped with black sesame seeds for your breakfast or light lunch.
Ingredients
5.5 OZ / 150 ML warm water
1 TSP instant yeast
1 TBSP sugar
1 EA egg
1 TSP salt
10.5 OZ / 300 G bread flour
1 TBSP butter
1 TSP black sesame seeds
Directions
Add the yeast, water, sugar and butter into the mixing bowl. With the measuring cup inserted, mix for 3 minutes / 99°F|37°C / speed 1 / stir.
Add your flour, salt and egg to the mixing bowl. With the measuring cup inserted, knead your dough for 2 minutes.
Remove your dough from the mixing bowl and knead a little more before allowing it to prove for around 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes, divide your dough into 8, roll them into 8-inch strips, then roll each strip into a ring. Place onto a baking sheet and allow them to prove for 1 hour till double inside.
TIP: Make sure the rings are well sealed, otherwise they will fall apart.
Preheat your oven to 220°C / 440°F. Using a saucepan filled with water, add some salt and a little sugar and bring to a boil. Cook your bagels for 30 seconds on either side, then place them back onto the baking sheet and sprinkle over the sesame seeds. Bake for 15 minutes till golden brown.

TIPS:
You need a small egg for this recipe.
You may need to adjust the flour if your dough is too wet.
Sprinkle seeds or parmesan cheese on top before you bake them.
