Cooking tips and tricks
Pickling cucumbers typically have a drier flesh than other varieties of cucumbers, meaning they will release less water and therefore will help make the tzatziki as thick and creamy as possible.
What are the variations of the tzatziki?
For an even creamier result, add 1 avocado to the recipe. It will bring incredible flavors and smoother textures to the final result!
Additional herbs can be added to this recipe for more diverse flavors. Fresh mint is a great choice and pairs nicely with lamb or spicy dishes due to its cool, earthy flavors. You could even use this variety with spicy Indian dishes as an almost identical substitute for raita.
Spice up this tzatziki recipe with 1 tbsp of harissa (chili paste) or a pinch of cayenne pepper. These spices are complemented by the cooling cucumber. This version makes a great dipping sauce for veggies.
The final verdict on the tzatziki - how does it taste?
Make this traditional Greek recipe for its summer vibe and enjoy it as a healthy appetizer, side sauce, or marinade. It’s:
