Preheat oven to 392°F|200°C.
Add Gruyere cheese to the mixing bowl and grate for 10 seconds using the Turbo button.
Transfer to another bowl and set aside.
Peel, wash, and dry the potatoes. Cut them into thin slices and season with the nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
Butter the baking dish, and then rub it with a sliced garlic clove.
Layer half of the potatoes in a fan shape, and cover with half of the grated Gruyere cheese.
Add flour, butter, milk, egg, salt, pepper, and nutmeg to the mixing bowl.
Remove the measuring cup and cook the sauce for 7 minutes / 190°F|90°C / speed 2.
Pour the sauce over the potatoes, and add the rest of the potatoes. Cut the butter into small cubes and spread on top of the potatoes together with the remaining cheese.
Bake the gratin for 35 minutes.
Serve the gratin hot in the baking dish.
