Challenge yourself and make your own baguette, chewy inside and crunchy outside.
Ingredients
2 TSP Instant yeast
26.5 OZ / 750 G strong bread flour
17.5 OZ / 500 G water
2.5 TSP salt
Directions
Add your yeast, water and two-thirds of your flour into the mixing bowl. With the measuring cup inserted, knead for 45 seconds. Once done, add your mix into a bowl and leave covered for 45 minutes at room temperature.
After your starter has proven, add your remaining flour and salt into the mixing bowl along with the starter. With the measuring cup inserted, knead your dough for 2 minutes.
TIP: Your dough should be workable with your hands but slightly sticky.
Divide your dough into 4 and roll out into 4 long sticks, making sure the ends are pointy. Allow to prove for one hour. Preheat your oven to 220°C / 440°F.
Cut slits on the bread and dust with some extra flour. Then, bake for 25 minutes.
TIP: If you want to get a really hard crust, spray some water on your bread before baking.
